Children's Ministries

Faith Discovery. “Faith Discovery” encompasses the belief that all aspects of a child’s experience at church help them discover what it means to live a life of faith. “Faith Discovery” is so much more than Sunday school. It happens through worship, study, prayer, relationships, music, mission, stewardship, service, fellowship, fun and more. “Faith Discovery” embraces the notion that faith is not just taught, in fact, it is largely caught. The church also seeks to equip parents/guardians to encourage and nurture “Faith Discovery” at home. “Faith Workshop” is the term we use to describe the time for learning and experiences, following the Children’s Time, spent with peers and leaders.

Nursery Care. For infants and toddlers, we offer nursery care every Sunday morning, starting at 9:45 am. Our nursery is staffed by a professional, who is trained to make sure that all children are safe and well taken care of.

Youth Ministries

Youth Ministries Council. This group gathers monthly in worship to plan events. This group also extends into the broader church community to be advocates for our church’s middle and high school youth. While Youth Group is an important part of ministering to and with you, the Plymouth Church also seeks to open up all the ministries of the church to the wisdom and spirit of youth—creating a sense of higher purpose through mission and ministry opportunities; creating space for spiritual growth and worship; creating a sense of community where people of all ages are welcomed and valued. We hope to encourage and sustain the mindset of the congregation that youth are integral and inseparable to the life and ministry of the church.

Confirmation. Confirmation invites eighth graders for a year-long journey to explore what being a member of Christ’s church is about. At the end of the year, confirmands have the chance to be baptized or to confirm their baptism during Sunday worship. For a list of classes and Confirmation events, check out the yellow calendar on our events page, or download a copy of the schedule.

Youth Group. Sometimes it’s fun to have fun. Throughout the year, the youth of the church gather together to play games, watch movies, serve the community, worship and strengthen the bonds of friendship.

Our main goal is to work on the children's social skills, developing communication and literacy skills. We hope that we can create an environment for your children so that his/her first learning experience is positive and enjoyable.

We hope that you as the parent will help build these skills by reading whenever possible and encouraging the child to do things for themselves, such as dressing, packing their backpack, and hanging up their own coat.

We hope the children learn respect and consideration for their classmates and teachers. We hope your child will leave P.H.N.S. with a positive outlook on learning and will look forward to their next experience.

Child Adult Safety

The Plymouth Church is committed to creating and maintaining a worship and work community in which members, their children, friends, staff and volunteers can worship and work together in an atmosphere that is safe, both physically and psychologically, and is free of exploitation or intimidation. Here at the Plymouth Church we strive to provide an environment that is welcoming and in which each and every person in our congregation feels valued. This atmosphere also pertains to visitors and those from our community who use our facility.

We recognize that our congregation’s health and safety is a key aspect of our culture of caring. This is especially true for the children and youth who are entrusted to our care. To that end, The Plymouth Church has established rigorous measures to assure that sound safety measures are established, exercised and periodically reviewed.
